TV on the Go ... and More

Mobile TV is the first, most important application delivered by converged mobile broadcast technologies. By leveraging spectrum out-of-band of traditional mobile operators, broadcast delivers familiar, high quality video services to consumers at unprecedented economics and on a massive scale.

However, technologies like Mobile DTV are able to deliver far more than just TV. Because they leverage Internet technologies, they are also able to deliver a variety of data services such as the news, weather, and sports data to consumers in a Web-like, on-demand manner without eating into 3G and 4G bandwidth caps. Roundbox is the pioneer in enabling these new, datacasting services via standards such as ATSC-Non Real Time (NRT) for broadcasters and device manufacturers.

One particular piece of Roundbox technology, the Electronic Service Guide (ESG), is deployable by consumers today in the form of 3G and 4G mobile program guides. Developed for TV Guide Mobile, this ESG provides consumers listings data for programming available at home and can be used by mobile operators to present 3G / 4G video choices to subscribers.

We are also uniquely invested in all aspects of the mobile broadcast value chain – from stations, to client devices, to mobile operators – and are thus able to raise the bar for the industry as a whole. New services such as large-scale push video on demand, premium services, and/or rich interactivity will require a concentrated end-to-end investment, which Roundbox is uniquely able to drive and coordinate.
