Co-Founder, CEO, President
Dennis Specht is co-founder and has served as co-chairman, president and chief executive officer since the company's inception.
Career
Prior to founding Roundbox in 2003, Mr. Specht co-founded dynamicsoft, Inc., a producer of carrier-grade VoIP and wireless SIP-based software solutions, which was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2004. During his years at Lucent Technologies, Specht held senior positions in engineering, product management, and marketing, as managing director of Internet Telephony. At Lucent, he led the team that invented and delivered the first commercial Internet telephony gateway to market. Mr. Specht also held executive positions at Sapient Corporation.
Mr. Specht has been named a Technology Pioneer 2008 by the World Economic Forum, recognized as a top entrepreneur by Ernst and Young, and Frost & Sullivan; and named "One of the Most Significant Pioneers" in the communications industry by pulver.com.
Co-Founder
Jim Nelson is co-founder and responsible for strategic growth initiatives, including sales and corporate development.
Career
Prior to founding Roundbox in 2003, Mr. Nelson co-founded dynamicsoft, Inc., a producer of carrier-grade VoIP and wireless SIP-based software solutions, which was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2004. Mr. Nelson led dynamicsoft's wireless team, which resulted in more than $40 million in revenue and a market-leading position in the wireless market.
Before founding dynamicsoft, Mr. Nelson held a senior position at Sapient Internet Solutions, where he was responsible for e-commerce systems. Prior to Sapient, he was a vice president at Merrill Lynch and Co., where he was instrumental in managing trading and technology businesses.
Mr. Nelson has been recognized as a top entrepreneur by Ernst and Young, and Frost & Sullivan.
Chief Technology Officer
As Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Mataga is responsible for the company's technical vision, leading all aspects of Roundbox's technology strategy, development planning and intellectual property management.
Career
As Portfolio Architect within the Converged Systems Division of Avaya, Inc., Mr. Mataga led the evolution of the company's flagship product line to a distributed, SIP-based infrastructure, encompassing VoIP calling, conferencing and voicemail, instant messaging and presence.
Prior to Avaya, as the Solution Architect and Fellow at dynamicsoft, Mr. Mataga conceived (with Mr. Jonathan Rosenberg) and architected the first commercial SIP-based application server, a forerunner of the IMS equivalent. His extensive experience also includes seven years as a member of the technical staff of AT&T/Lucent Bell Labs Research.
Mr. Mataga has a Ph.D. in applied math and S.M. in engineering from Harvard University, B.E. in engineering science and B.Sc. in math and computer science from the University of Auckland. He has ten patents awarded in various aspects of communications technology, as well as numerous patents pending in the mobile datacast technology area.
Vice President, Software Development
As Vice President, Software Development, Edgar Villanueva oversees software design and development of all Roundbox products. He brings to Roundbox a proven track record in leading worldwide development teams responsible for delivering industry-leading software solutions. Mr. Villanueva's extensive experience spans many industries including telecommunications, medical imaging, finance, and accounting.
Career
Mr. Villanueva joins Roundbox from Cisco Systems, where he served as a technical lead managing several key projects, including dispatch-to-desktop, wireless push-to-talk, presence and instant messaging, and SIP applications and clients.
Prior to Cisco, he was a consultant with Future Minds, helping to develop a business plan for an embedded phone stack based on SIP, and working on projects for companies such as dynamicsoft and Goldman Sachs.
Vice President, Product Management
As Vice President, Product Management at Roundbox, Doug Dominiak has responsibility for defining and bringing to market an innovative group of products for delivering applications and content over wireless and broadcast networks.
Mr. Dominiak is a pioneer in the mobile data industry; having played key roles in the companies and industry fora that brought mobile browsing from an interesting idea to a must-have feature, generating significant revenue for mobile operators. He is now pursuing the next generation of technologies to deliver rich media and relevant data to mobile devices.
Career
Prior to joining Roundbox, he was the product manager of Mobile Browser and MIDAS products at Openwave. The Openwave Mobile Browser is deployed on over 1 billion mobile devices worldwide, and played a key role in the development of the mobile data market, being the first commercially deployed mobile browser and market-share leader.
Mr. Dominiak started his career at Motorola Labs, the research and development arm of Motorola Inc. There he developed pioneering wireless technologies essential for the emerging mobile data industry. Additionally he played a key role in Motorola's efforts as founding member of the WAP Forum.
