Jonathan Rosenberg, Ph.D.

Dr. Rosenberg is currently a Cisco Fellow in the Voice Technology Group at Cisco Systems. He is the co-author of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), RFC 3261, and inventor of SIMPLE - SIP for presence and IM. Dr. Rosenberg has also authored numerous protocols such as STUN, TURN, and XCAP. Additionally, he served on the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) from 2004 to 2006 and is the chair of the IP telephony working group as well as having co-chaired the SIP working group. He has authored over 30 patents and publications, 45 Internet RFCs, and numerous Internet Drafts in the area of multimedia communications over packet networks. Prior to Cisco, Dr. Rosenberg was CTO of dynamicsoft, a New Jersey company.

Dr. Rosenberg was awarded the Pulver VoN Pioneer award in June of 2000 for his contributions to the VoIP industry. In May 2002, Technology Review Magazine named him as one of the TR100 - the 100 most innovative technologists in the world under the age of 35. In October 2005, CRN Magazine named him as one of their "Super Geeks" - 10 engineers who are casting larger-than-life shadows over the industry. TMC Internet Telephony magazine recently named Dr. Rosenberg as one of the Top 100 Voices of IP communications.
