Vasilis Polychronidis, Ph.D.
Vice President, Business Development
Dr. Polychronidis is responsible for identifying business opportunities and serving mobile operators, and partners in the EMEA Region. He has an in-depth understanding of carrier requirements for broadcast networks and is focused on helping leading global mobile operators develop winning strategies.
Career
Dr. Polychronidis brings to Roundbox over ten years of expertise in telecommunications engineering and standards, with an emphasis on wireless technologies. Prior to Roundbox, Dr. Polychronidis was Chief Product Strategist at Openwave Systems, Inc., where he was responsible for the development and implementation of Openwave's 3G/IMS strategy, defining and leading the execution of Openwave's Multimedia Messaging strategy that resulted in the Openwave's MMSC and MMS client. Polychronidis also pioneered 3GPP standards development and was a key contributor to all MMS product development phases.
In addition to Openwave and @MOBILE, Dr. Polychronidis held various technical leadership positions with AT&T Wireless Services, Global Mobility Systems, and Software.com.
Dr. Polychronidis is one of the authors of the 3GPP TS 23.140 MMS standard. He developed and contributed the various MMS address resolution mechanisms including "IMSI" and "ENUM based."
Dr. Polychronidis has a B.Sc. in physics from the University of Athens, Hellas. He has also received a M.Sc. in physics, M.Sc.E.E. in telecommunications engineering and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
