Roundbox Announces New Release of Mobile Broadcast Suite Targeting Mobile DTV at NAB 2009

New Version of Award-Winning Product Suite Provides Crucial, Standards-Based Building Blocks for Mobile DTV Broadcasters, Device Manufacturers, and Mobile Operators

Florham Park, NJ - April 17, 2008 - Roundbox, Inc., the leader in mobile broadcast software, today released the latest version of the Roundbox Mobile Broadcast Suite, version 5.0. This standards-based platform addresses the unique challenges faced by broadcasters, mobile operators, and device manufacturers who are looking to deliver television, extend existing applications to new audiences and enable the creation of entirely new applications that drive new revenue while reducing deployment costs.

"Making technologies like Mobile DTV a success requires effort from all parts of the ecosystem," said Vinod Valloppillil, vice president, product marketing at Roundbox. "The Roundbox Mobile Broadcast Suite provides products which drive new consumer experiences and thus new revenue enabled by the convergence of mobile and broadcast."

Based on open standards, the suite is designed to work with existing network architectures and an array of devices including handheld mobile phones, PCs, netbooks, in-car entertainment devices, receivers, chips, media players and other software platforms. Designed to deliver the lowest cost of ownership for deploying broadcast services, the suite has the speed and capacity required to ensure service will not be disrupted.

The Roundbox Mobile Broadcast Suite is comprised of the following products:

The Roundbox Server is the flagship of the Roundbox Mobile Broadcast Suite, which centrally manages mobile broadcast services, governs application and network policies, interfaces with application data, and provides a flexible framework that can easily incorporate value-added capabilities and feature-rich packages.

The Roundbox Client SDK is a complete standards-compliant client software development kit with robust and easy-to-use APIs for any device and any network configuration. The SDK provides device manufacturers a complete protocol stack, binary applications, and test samples necessary for building devices that support TV and advanced data services on mobile broadcast networks. To further fuel the manufacturer ecosystem, Roundbox is open sourcing a key component of the SDK, the M/H Announcement Channel Parser.

The feature-rich Roundbox ESG is an application that makes discovery and navigation of content easy and intuitive. This comprehensive interface helps users quickly discover what's available and enjoy the experience while unifying all mobile broadcast services to present a single, seamless, and simple way to access all content types.

Roundbox Managed is a flexible service for customers who want to deploy Roundbox without the hassle of managing the day-to-day operations. Roundbox will maintain the products from their datacenter.

Roundbox will be demonstrating the power of the Roundbox Mobile Broadcast Suite at the NAB Show, held on April 18-23 in Las Vegas, Nevada. On display will be a variety of mobile broadcast applications powered by the Roundbox Server, Client SDK and ESG. Demonstrations on the Dell Inspiron™ Mini 10 netbook can be seen in the Harris exhibit, Booth N-2502, in the OMVC exhibit, Booth C-8150 and at the ATSC Mobile DTV Pavilion in the LG Electronics / Zenith exhibit, Booth C-8546-F.
